Q : What types of events are sponsored by the fee?

A: The fee funds free concerts, social and networking events, movies, special events, sports events, club events, and many more events can be proposed by any organization at Organization Allocation Committee meeting held each fall and spring semester.

Q : How do student organizations benefit from the Student Life Fee?

A: Each new organization is given seed money of $200 to use to have their first event and operating funds. Each registered student organization is eligible to receive up to $1,400 an event with a passing vote through OAC. This money can be increased by having organizations collaborate together for an event. Also, organizations are offered initiatives for tabling at events or having perfect attendance at Assembly Meetings.

Q : Who decides how the Student Life Fee is allocated?

A: The Associated Students of Woodbury University (ASWU), which is comprised of: the ASWU e-board, assembly organization representatives, interns, senators, project managers, and secretary; makes all decisions about the structure of the Student Life Fee which is also outlined in the legislation. ASWU is a representative group of undergraduate students. The ASWU Vice President of Finance is responsible for ensuring all student life fees are allocated appropriately.

A: The most convenient way to make sure you hear about some of the great campus events and opportunities off-campus funded by the Fee is to view the ASWU website calendar & project page located at https://www.aswu.woodbury.edu/calendar-of-events. Other places to look would be ASWU’s social media, @aswucab which can be found at the top or bottom of any website page on aswu.woodbury.edu. As well as the Instagram feed and calendar on our homepage.

Q : What is the Student Life Fee?

A: It is a fee charged to all undergraduate students each fall and spring academic terms. The fee is used to fund major campus events planned by the Campus Activities Board, student organizations, your undergraduate student government known as ASWU, the Discount Card program, Woody our Warrior Owl, ASWU projects that our outlined on our project page on the website, Woodbury University’s largest and most traditional campus programs by the students, called Signature Events.

Q : How much money do I pay for the Student Life Fee?

A: Each full-time undergraduate student pays $125 each fall and spring semester. The breakdown of this fee can be found below under what is the money generated from the fee used for.

Q : Who pays the student life fee?

A: The fee is charged to all undergraduate students enrolled at the Woodbury University Burbank campus only, which does not include students from Woodbury University graduate program or San Diego campus. Therefore, only undergraduate students paying their tuition and fees to Woodbury University Burbank are assessed the Activity Fee, and only those students are eligible for its benefits.

Q : How much money does the fee bring in?

A: At the $125 per semester level, the Fee generates roughly $150,000 each semester. This fluctuates based on the enrollment numbers.

Q : What is the money generated from the fee used for?

  1. ​$125​ ​per​ ​Fall​ ​and​ ​Spring​ ​semester​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​collected​ ​from​ ​all​ ​registered

  2. undergraduate​ ​students​ ​of​ ​the​ ​day​ ​population,​ ​as​ ​stated​ ​in​ ​the​ ​Woodbury University​ ​catalog.

    1. $125​ ​per​ ​person​ ​from​ ​all​ ​registered​ ​undergraduate​ ​students​ ​of​ ​the​ ​day population​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​transferred​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Campus​ ​Life​ ​Enhancement​ ​fund.

  3. The​ ​remaining​ ​collected​ ​money​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​allocated​ ​as​ ​follows:

    1. 47.5%​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​transferred​ ​to​ ​the​ ​Campus​ ​Activities​ ​Board​ ​account​ ​for

    2. their​ ​exclusive​ ​use,​ ​and

    3. 52.5%​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​transferred​ ​to​ ​the​ ​ASWU​ ​Assembly​ ​account​ ​for​ ​further

    4. breakdown:

      1. An​ ​upfront​ ​amount​ ​of​ ​$1,100​ ​per​ ​ASWU​ ​Executive​ ​Board member​ ​will​ ​be​ ​allocated​ ​for​ ​remuneration​ ​per​ ​semester,

        1. $900​ ​for​ ​the​ ​spring​ ​and​ ​fall​ ​semester

        2. $200​ ​for​ ​the​ ​summer​ ​stipend​ ​in​ ​the​ ​fall​ ​and​ ​spring​ ​to​ ​total

        3. the​ ​$400​ ​stipend.

      2. $150​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​allocated​ ​for​ ​Assembly​ ​every​ ​semester​ ​per​ ​intern,

      3. senator,​ ​project​ ​manager,​ ​and​ ​secretary.​ ​Fall​ ​and​ ​Spring​ ​semester funds​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​used​ ​for​ ​gift​ ​cards;​ ​refer​ ​to​ ​By-laws​ ​regarding Attendance​ ​Policy,

      4. 55%​ ​of​ ​the​ ​remaining​ ​amount​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​allocated​ ​to​ ​the Organizations​ ​Allocations​ ​Committee,​ ​and

        1. 35%​ ​of​ ​the​ ​remaining​ ​amount​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​used​ ​as​ ​the​ ​ASWU Assembly’s​ ​operating​ ​budget.

        2. 10%​ ​of​ ​the​ ​remaining​ ​amount​ ​shall​ ​be​ ​used​ ​as​ ​the​ ​ASWU Summer​ ​operating​ ​budget.
